6. Confidence

Confidence is something that many people believe you are born with.  Other people believe it’s something you learn how to have.  In any event, you need to have a form of confidence.  No one wants a spouse who mopes around the house with low self-esteem.  You don’t have to be arrogant or cocky, but confidence is a good thing to have.  Confidence is considered a treasure because it’s something that no one can take from you.

5. Honesty

Honesty is another major factor within a relationship.  No one likes to be lied to.  Yes, cheating is a form of dishonesty, so you shouldn’t put yourself in that type of situation.  When your spouse is honest, you never have to worry about how they feel about you or a particular situation.  When a person is honest, they give you a sense of hope and trust.  If honesty is not present in the relationship, there is not a relationship to claim.  Honesty is more appreciated than a lot of people believe.

4. Communication

Communication plays a big role in a relationship, especially if you want to maintain a healthy relationship.  Sometimes you have to bite the bullet and discuss things that you would rather not talk about, and get it over with.  When you have an open line of communication at all times, there are not too many things that can tear your relationship down or cause issues.  Take the time to talk to your spouse when problems occur and find a solution.  The longer you prolong a situation, the worse the situation can become, and your relationship will be at risk for coming to an end.  Talk to your spouse about the things that trouble you and make sure you are there when your spouse needs to talk, vent, or needs a shoulder to lean on.

3. Create a Strong Bond

Creating a strong bond is easier said than done for a lot of people.  In order to create a strong bond, you have to get to know that person and trust them with a lot of things.  Sometimes the other person can make you feel you can trust them with anything without a problem, and other times, it’s not as easy.  When you create a strong bond with your spouse, make sure you are sincere.  The bond will not be as strong as it could be if you were sincere about it

2. Express Your Emotions and Feelings

A lot of couples have issues expressing how they feel and why they feel the way they do.  Yes men, it’s okay to cry, and yes women, it’s okay to say you need help.  These things do not make you less of a person.  You should be able to go to your spouse and let them know how you are feeling at any time without being judged about the way you feel and you feel that way.

1. Trust

Trust is something that is not given, it is earned.  A lot of people have a hard time understanding this concept.  Once your spouse’s trust is broken, it can take a lifetime to get back, and may never come back.  Make sure your spouse can trust you and depend on you.  There is no relationship without trust.
